What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts that are screw-shaped and designed to replace the roots of your missing teeth. They are crafted from biocompatible materials, such as titanium, ceramic, and zirconia, which means that they naturally fuse with the bone in a process called osseointegration. This makes them the perfect support system for either a free-standing dental crown, dental bridge, or denture, which has been custom-crafted to attach to the implants.

The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

  • Implant Consultation: The first step in every dental implant journey is to schedule a consultation with Dr. G. At your visit, we will take a cone beam CT scan of your face, speak to you about what the process looks like, and let you know whether you’re a good candidate. In some cases, preliminary treatments may be necessary before we can move onto the next step.
  • Dental Implant Surgery: Dr. G has completed advanced training in the placement and restoration of dental implants, allowing our Lotus Dentistry team to complete your procedure from the comfort of an office and expert that you know and trust.
  • Osseointegration/Abutment: After your implant placement, they will fuse with the jawbone over the following three to six months. Then, we will have you come back in to secure small metal connector pieces, called abutments, to the top of your implants.
  • Restoration: Once your restoration has been crafted by the dental laboratory we work with, we will call you back in for one last time to restore your smile!
